- AFRAC
Intlnet welcomes AFRAC as its first national CRC (Context Reference Centre) organisation member. AFRAC results from the dot-root ICANN ICP-3 conforming experimentation. It addresses the call of the WSIS for regional root servers, active surety policy, and active participation of the Civil Society in the Internet Governance. It has a fourfold mission: (1) to dissociate the dissemination of the root data from a specific root file to permit intrusion corrections or a legal takeover in the case of a national crisis or by a sovereign decision, (2) redundancy in collecting root data for mutual quality control, (3) innovation in the naming management area (targeting a root matrix based Generalised Name Service - GNS) and (4) to take advantage of its experience to share and support in national governance, particularly in cybersecurity awareness.
AFRAC is a French organisation. It is hoped that other comparable countries will subsequently develop from this first experience
- WSIS
The World Submit on Information Society declaration and plan are significant steps ahead, which represent many of the Intlnet positions (some can be directly traced to our action). However, initiated at a time that the world discovered the "Internet" it has not yet engaged in the two major issues since the late 1970s: the trans-border data flow, the impact of the TNC (trans national companies) on the digital divide, and on the financing of the online, inline, and extended services.
- 25 years tribute
Intlnet is 25 years old today. It wanted to pay a tribute to all the pioneers who made the "Intlnet" (now commonly called the "internet" with a lower-case "i"): press release. In the weeks to come, pages will be created per country, operator, and network in order to document the entrepreneurs and builders of the first decades.
- dot-root
Intlnet supports the dot-root initiative and will actively participate in its deployment.
- icannatlarge.org
The icannatlarge.org community launches its election process. Intlnet is attentive to this effort, which represents the individual registrants.
- Eurolinc
Intlnet supports the Eurolinc association that would like to be active in the area of the IDNs (third level and beyond) and multilingualism. INTLNET Chair, Mr. JFC Morfin wrote the Eurolinc's articles of incorporation and registered them as its General Delegate, and registered and developed its website, as well as chairs its WG-IDNS. Eurolinc is chaired by Mr. JL Grangé. Mr. Louis Pouzin is the former head of the French Internet Cyclades project - father of the mail and datagram - is a co-founder.
Intlnet shares the concerns expressed by the Eurolinc-WG-IDNS and supports its Membership of the IDN ccTLD-WG.
